Links
We only promote organizations and other musicians who work independently, who do great stuff and whose presence and content is free of exploitation and bigotry. We also favor sites that don't use external paid advertising to support their site. So we fully endorse all of these links. Press
-Copper Press
This is a print publication with a poetic approach, a great near-square print size and a nice online component. Check out the Daily Copper for interesting updates.
-Held Like Sound
This is an online and print music zine from the Washington D.C. area that also covers some independent artists from elsewhere. The interviews are really well done, the editors are good friends with a lot of the bands so they get some really intimate, informal moments. The online top ten lists are fun, too.
-Punk Planet
Not at all just for punks (and if you think punk is all about skinheads, Blink-182, or negative attitudes, you'd do well to delve into their articles). This is an outstanding print magazine with extremely well-thought-out features and fascinating columns (check out the Do-It-Yourself Health and Business sections). Their most recent cover story investigated the huge protests in Seattle and DC against the World Bank and WTO. Online you get a frequently-updated dose of independently researched world news.
Independent Resources
-Indie-Music.com
A massive independent music resource site. Unlike a lot of other sites, they make a big effort to keep their info current. For bands, their venue listings and tour resources section is very well put-together and helpful.
