Biography

el John - drums
Atsushi Murase - bass
Daryl Shawn - guitar and singing

Starting out in 1999 as a guitar & drums duo with an improvisational, space-rock tinge, Mhorse soon became a trio (Daryl being the remaining original member) with a lyrical bent and pop underpinnings under all the rhythmic attack and Fender buzz. While still a duo, they released one full-length cd, Baby Names From the Bible, which received some nice critical accolade and enabled them to do some touring up and down the West Coast, as well as Bay Area shows at venues like the Paradise Lounge, Bottom of the Hill, and the Hotel Utah. In 2000 they released a 7" single, Sun Devil, in a limited edition of 500 copies on gold vinyl. In 2001, they released the CD EP Fall On Your Sword, engineered by Alex Newport, known for his work with At The Drive-In and Mars Volta. Following a tour which included spots at Spaceland in Los Angeles, Stubb's BBQ in Austin, and an appearance with Rocket From the Crypt at the Casbah in San Diego, the band took a break and worked on writing and recording their final album, Snuff Record. By the time the recording was finished in 2004, the members were headed to different parts of the world, but before disbanding the full-length cd was released as a non-commercial edition of 100 copies in a hand-printed cover, given only as gifts to fans.
